Nirmala Sitharaman Arrives in the US for IMF-World Bank Meet and G20 Chairmanship


Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has arrived in the United States to attend the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank annual meetings. She is also scheduled to chair the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting during her visit.

IMF-World Bank Meetings


Sitharaman is set to participate in the IMF-World Bank annual meetings, which are held annually in Washington, DC, to discuss issues related to the global economy, poverty eradication, international development, and finance. The meeting will take place from 11 to 15 April 2023.


G20 Chairmanship


Sitharaman will chair the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting, which will be held on 14 and 15 April 2023 in Washington, DC. During this meeting, representatives from the world's 20 largest economies will discuss issues related to global economic growth, financial stability, and trade.


Itinerary


The Finance Minister's week-long visit will include several meetings with top officials, including U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, and World Bank President David Malpass. Sitharaman will also meet with business leaders and investors to discuss investment opportunities in India.


During her visit, Sitharaman will deliver a speech at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, where she is expected to discuss India's economic policies and reforms. She will also attend a meeting with the Indo-US CEO Forum, which brings together top business leaders from both countries to discuss ways to promote trade and investment.


Sitharaman will visit the New York Stock Exchange and meet with business leaders from the United States and India to explore opportunities for collaboration in various sectors, including finance, technology, and energy.


Sitharaman's visit to the United States is expected to strengthen economic ties between India and the United States and promote investment opportunities for Indian companies.
